Welcome!

Welcome to Foundations of Consensual Kink!

'Kink' describes a lot of activities - most of them sexual, but not all. Whatever kinky play you're into, a practice of consent will lower your risk of harm and increase your chance of pleasure (or pain, if that's what you want). This course will cover the basics of consent for kink, exploring what you need to know about kinky spaces, giving guidance on how to negotiate play, and introducing steps on how to be accountable if things go wrong.

What is Consent Academy?

Consent Academy is an educational collective founded in 2016 in Seattle, WA, currently with staff and volunteers all over the world. We believe consent is a part of everyday life, and its practice builds stronger, safer, and more connected communities. Our approach incorporates disciplines of psychology, sociology, public health, psychotherapy, and personal coaching to create a systemic view of how consent impacts everyone, from the bedroom to the boardroom.

Consent Academy is a program of the Pan Eros Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization. For more information, visit us at www.consent.academy.

Disclaimer:

“Consent” is a word that is used in many different contexts and for many different purposes. Often, it’s used in a legalistic way, describing what is and is not a crime. We at the Consent Academy are not lawyers or legal professionals, so we can’t teach about consent in terms of the law with any authority. While you are taking this course, please keep in mind that consent may have a legal definition where you live, as well as laws surrounding its practice. Kinky activities may also have laws surrounding their practice in different states and countries. For more information on consent and kink as it pertains to the law in the US, we recommend the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom as a resource: https://ncsfreedom.org/

Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments! We would love to know why you decided to take the course, what part of the world you're joining from, and/or where you heard about us.
