Course Objectives

In this class, we will:

• Provide language to discuss the complexity of consent.
• Discuss ways to minimize the risk of violating consent.
• Attempt to reduce shame around consent incidents and violations.*
• Introduce steps of accountability for when consent is violated.
  

What should I know before I get started?

• Consent is complex, but as a human being with experiences with other humans, we guarantee you already know a lot about consent. Our goal here isn't to instill one "right" way of thinking, but rather, we hope this course gives you a set of risk-reducing tools that you can actually use, as well as the ability to speak more clearly about the ideas and feelings around the topic of consent that were already growing within you.
• This course is fairly short and uses a conversational tone to provide just an introduction to the foundations of consent. We do not cover all of the complexities, but we encourage your questions and comments exploring them. Stay tuned for more courses on Teachable or check out our website for live classes that dive deeper into consent.
• We hope that this course will inspire you to talk with others about what you have learned. Consent is essential in every context, and everyone can learn the skills described here.
